Please be informed about the launch of a call for expertise for “Developing proposals for long-term funding mechanism(s) for periodical large-scale cetacean monitoring in the ACCOBAMS Area”.

The ACCOBAMS Permanent Secretariat is looking foraskilled expert (or a group of experts) in fundraising in order to develop proposals for long-term funding mechanism(s) for periodical large-scale cetacean monitoring in the ACCOBAMS Area to support the regular update of populations trends and conservation status.

The deadline for application is Sunday 15th September.

 

The CeNoBS cetacean aerial survey mission in the Black Sea just ended!

After 3 weeks and over 7,000 km surveyed over the waters of Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Turkey and Georgia, the extensive aerial survey activity on cetaceans conducted as part of ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative in the Black Sea basin was successfully completed. Preliminary results of this survey are already available and presented here. The work was carried out within the CeNoBS project, co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by the ACCOBAMS Partner NGO Mare Nostrum.

Announcement: 13th Marine Mammal Necropsy Workshop

A marine mammal necropsy workshop is organized by the Department of Veterinary Pathology (University of Liege, Belgium), the Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics LAB (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain) and the UMS Pelagis, Centre de Recherche sur les Mammifères Marins (University of La Rochelle, France). The session will be held at the Veterinary College on the Sart Tilman campus (Liège, Belgium) on July 2, 3 and 4 2019.

The workshop is open to scientists (post-graduate students and specialists) in biology, toxicology, veterinary medicine involved in marine mammal research, with a maximum of 20 participants.
