Pursuant to Decision IG.24/6 of the Barcelona Convention COP 21, the Specially Protected Areas Regional Activity Centre (SPA/RAC) launched a call for consultancy aiming at the development of a post-2020 regional strategy for marine protected areas (MPAs) and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) in the Mediterranean.
The deadline for receiving proposals is 20 January 2021.
This consultancy is open to individual consultants having experience in developing strategies and action plans for the marine and coastal environment conservation and protected areas; and having excellent writing skills in English.
In the framework of the Quietmed2 project – Joint programme for GES assessment on D11-noise in the Mediterranean Marine region – the Permanent Secretariat of ACCOBAMS and the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (UNEP-MAP-SPA/RAC) are currently organising (14-15 December 2020) a training session on underwater noise, intended for the competent authorities of the French-speaking Mediterranean countries with the aim of :
* Demonstrate best practices in regional or sub-regional cooperation ;
* Promote the use of the ACCOBAMS Impulsive Noise Registry for the Mediterranean Sea Region (INR-MED);
* To present the work developed in the framework of the QUIETMED 2 project and how this can promote coordinated action in the Mediterranean region
