Event: Interactions between shipping and cetaceans

On the occasion of the stopover of the boat Eagle II in the Principality of Monaco of the Pelagos expedition of the Association “We Are Méditerranée”, the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic area – ACCOBAMS, in collaboration with Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Pelagos Initiative and the Yacht Club of Monaco, organised on october 18^th, 2023, an event to raise awareness about interactions between shipping and cetaceans.

The event, warmly hosted and moderated by Mr Bernard d’Alessandri, brought together around thirty participants, reflecting everyone’s strong commitment to protecting marine biodiversity.

The Mediterranean is home to an incredible wealth of marine life, particularly cetaceans. Yet they are facing increasing threats with cumulative effects.

Safeguarding the oceans and the planet will depend on preserving biodiversity, but it will also depend on everyone’s willingness to co-exist and share marine spaces with cetaceans.
