Call for Contributions: Online Joint Workshop on Fisheries Interaction with Vulnerable Species

ACCOBAMS is pleased to announce the upcoming Online Joint Workshop on Fisheries Interaction with Vulnerable Species, to be held on January 28, 2025. This workshop is organized in the context of three ongoing projects coordinated by ACCOBAMS on the interaction between fisheries activities and vulnerable species, funded by FAO-GFCM.

The workshop aims to:

    • Share experiences and exchange views on activities and results achieved.
    • Discuss monitoring and mitigation efforts for bycatch of vulnerable species (cetaceans, elasmobranchs, reptiles, seabirds, juvenile fish, etc.) and dolphin depredation in the ACCOBAMS and GFCM areas, and beyond.
    • Foster collaboration by creating a network of experts and entities working on these topics.
    • Draft key outcomes and recommendations.

We warmly invite contributions from experts and researchers in this field. If you are working on bycatch mitigation, depredation, or related topics, we encourage you to submit an abstract for a short oral presentation to share your insights and engage in fruitful discussions.
