Since the early 2000s, the ACCOBAMS Secretariat has been headquartered in the Principality of Monaco, at the heart of a diplomatic and scientific environment conducive to regional cooperation for the conservation of cetaceans and their habitat.

On the occasion of the recent relocation of its offices, the Secretariat had the honour of welcoming H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco for an official visit to its new premises. This meeting enabled the Secretariat team to present an overview of its missions, its ongoing projects and the concrete results achieved in the implementation of the Agreement.

This exchange also provided an opportunity to highlight the Principality’s leading role in marine conservation efforts, particularly through its ongoing support for ACCOBAMS and its initiatives.

During the visit, H.S.H. the Prince was able to view the photographic exhibition “Méditerranée sauvage: cétacés en images, protection en action”, featuring a series of photographs by nature photographer Greg Lecoeur.  This exhibition, produced as part of the ShiPrint project and funded by the Pelagos initiative, illustrates the challenges associated with the coexistence of human activities and cetaceans.
