Monacology & ACCOBAMS Cetaceans Day 2017

The ACCOBAMS Cetaceans Day was celebrated on June 8, 2017 back to back with the World Ocean Day and the MONACOLOGY event (June 6-9, 2017).

The EcoVillage Monacology was created in 2004 to raise children’s awareness towards the environment and sustainable development.
This year, the main theme was to put forward  the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDOs).

In this context, ACCOBAMS hosted an educational and interactive workshop in SDD 14 for 4 days to conserve and exploit the oceans, seas and marine resources in a sustainable manner. ACCOBAMS has therefore focused on the protection of cetaceans in the Mediterranean by making visitors aware of:

! Caution cetaceans in danger!
Why are they threatened?
Identification of the marks found on cetaceans
Why do they run aground?
Which species are affected?
Is it possible to save them?
Who is in charge of protecting them?
